After the success of our custom leather belts (already sold one through Etsy), I figured that I should share my latest creations - custom leather watch straps. Y'all should know by now that I am constantly working on new products, new designs, and testing out new construction techniques.
First up, my favorite, is a brown unlined watch strap. The thread is the best linen thread in the world, straight from France. I picked up the buckle in El Restrepo (where else?).
But the brown strap didn't really match the black numbers on my watch face, so I had to make a black strap.
Speaking of the actual watch, it's a vintage Soviet piece that I bought off eBay. These old Soviet watches, while not of comparable quality to a good Swiss watch, still look good, run well, and can be bought for quite cheap online.
Both of these first two watch straps, while different colors, use the exact same construction. I also wanted to experiment with some designs that would use two pieces of leather and an inner lining, stitched together. Below are some early models I made up this week in anticipation of this weekend's UGA game.
Look for these watch straps on Etsy over the next couple of weeks. The unlined watch straps will cost about $50 and the lined straps $70. The leather and thread colors are completely customizable, of course.
